Forest Schools

The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire individuals, of any age, through positive outdoor experiences. This is done by participating in engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a woodland environment.

Forest Schools has demonstrated success with children of all ages who visit the same local woodlands on a regular basis and through play, who have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others.  Our Forest School runs throughout the year, visiting our woods in all weathers (except for high winds). Children use full sized tools, play, learn boundaries of behaviour; both physical and social, establish and grow in confidence, self-esteem and become self-motivated.

“I love going to the woods each week. I get to make a swing. Each week I try to make my swing better.”

“I used to be scared of climbing but now I know I can climb it safely.”

“The woodland area is great to play in and I work with other children that I don’t normally work with in class.”
