Attendance and Absence Policy
Our school is fortunate to have a very good attendance rate as parents recognise the importance of high levels of attendance. Last year our attendance rate was 97.1%.
We do not have problems with truancy or non attendance in this school, however should we become concerned about a child's pattern or level of attendance, we would discuss our concerns with the parents, in the first instance, and may involve the Education Welfare Officer.
Parents do not have a right or an entitlement to take their child out of school for a holiday. Should a parent wish to request leave of absence due to special circumstances, they need to seek permission by completing the relevant form which can be found outside the School Office. Requests for more than two days must be submitted at least two months before the planned absence is due to take place because all such requests are considered at Governing Body Meetings. If the request is not considered to be 'exceptional' it is very unlikely that permission will be granted.
Please leave a message on the School's answerphone as early as possible, ideally before 9.00am if your child is unwell and unable to attend school. You will be contacted at 9.30am if we have not received a message. This is to ensure your child's safety.
If your child becomes ill during the school day, we will endeavour to contact you by telephone, so please make sure that we have your up-to-date contact details.
In all cases of emergency, the headteacher or school administrator will try to get in touch with the parents concerned, or other listed contacts. If this is not possible, the child's doctor will be consulted and their advice acted upon.
