Admissions

Essex County Council is the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Essex, including mid-year. This means that the council sets the over subscription criteria and makes the decisions as to which pupils are admitted to these schools.

You can visit their website using the link below;

Admissions Policy

The published admission number for 2025/2026 is 30. Children with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) will be admitted whether there is a place or not, although the school is able to appeal if they are not satisfied with the decision to admit.

There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area. In the event of over subscription places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:

1. Looked After Children* and previously looked after children;
2. Children with a sibling attending the school;
3. Children living in the priority admission area;
4. Remaining applications.

*A looked after child is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions (as defined in Section 22(1) of the Children Act 1989).

If you need help making your application or wish to visit our school to see what we have to offer your child(ren), please call our school office on 01255 830307 to make an appointment. We hold Open Days, during the autumn and spring terms, to provide an opportunity to meet children and staff and find out what life is like at Tendring Primary School.
